Add a password to a PDF

Lock a PDF before you email or share it. Anyone who opens it has to type the password. You can also stop printing and copying.

How strong is it?

It uses AES-256, the strongest encryption PDFs support. A long password made of several words is far harder to guess than a short one.

I forgot the password. Can you open it?

No. Nobody can. Keep a copy of the original, or keep the password somewhere safe.

Do printing and copying limits always work?

Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge and most phone apps respect them, but some PDF programs ignore them. The password needed to open the file always works.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?
