Why does Excel break my CSV when I open it directly?
Excel guesses: it drops leading zeros, turns long numbers into 1.23E+11 and shows Hindi as garbled text. A real .xlsx made here stores each value the way it was.
Which numbers stay as text?
Values that start with 0 (like 0612 or 09876543210) and numbers longer than 15 digits, because Excel would change them. Everything else becomes a number you can add up.
My file uses semicolons or tabs.
